Post-Concussion and Whiplash Symptoms | Little River, Longs, Loris, North Myrtle, SC

The original title for this post was "Could whiplash or a sports injury be the cause of your headaches, neck pain, dizziness, drop attacks, numbness, tingling, panic attacks, or inability to walk?" Regardless of the presence of symptoms, an individual who has suffered a concussion or whiplash event of any degree needs to have their spine checked by a corrective chiropractor (preferably an upper cervical chiropractor).

Persistent severe headaches combined with neck pain and/or the following symptoms can indicate unresolved spinal injuries caused by past traumas. The most common trauma that causes "cranio-cervical syndrome" is whiplash. Other causes could include head/neck injuries from sports or traumatic accidents. There can be a considerable length of time between the accident and the onset of symptoms which can include a combination of headaches, neck pain, and any of the following:

  • Drop attacks (falling down spontaneously)
  • Dizziness
  • Loss of balance
  • Numbness/tingling of the arms or legs
  • Difficulty walking/using arms or legs
  • Vertigo
  • Loss of dexterity
  • Loss of color vision

Our understanding of the underlying factors involved in this syndrome is due primarily to the inventor of the MRI; Dr. Raymond V. Damadian. His work in pioneering use of the upright MRI unlocked new knowledge that would prove life-changing for people with "cranio-cervical syndrome" as well as people suffering from debilitating neurodegenerative disorders such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, Autism, and Alzheimer's. Dr. Damadian along with Dr. Scott Rosa; an upper cervical chiropractor from New York, demonstrated that the link between trauma and these conditions was the upper spine-specifically abnormal rotations of the atlas and axis bones surrounding the brainstem. After precisely re-aligning the atlas vertebra, Rosa observed symptomatic improvement in his patients as well as fascinating changes in the brain and nervous system as seen on upright MRI. Not only did they show upper cervical care to be effective for alleviation of  "cranio-cervical syndrome" but they shed light on one of the reasons why many other neurological conditions respond well to this unique healthcare discipline in the chiropractic field.

What is Upper Cervical

The following video is Dr. Damadian speaking on his findings in 2013. Christy Fisher gives an emotional testimony at 15:40 regarding her on-going recovery through image-guided upper cervical treatment.
